In a big news update, the Delhi Capitals (DC) have not included hard-hitting batsman Rovman Powell in their playing XI for their second encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season against the Gujarat Titans (GT) being played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It was a poor start to their Indian Premier League 2023 campaign for the Delhi Capitals as they went on to concede a big 50-run loss against Lucknow Super Giants in their opening game. It will now be important for the Delhi Capitals to get back to winning ways quickly in this IPL 2023 season.
DC vs GT: Why is Rovman Powell Not Playing Today’s IPL 2023 Match?
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Delhi Capitals captain David Warner revealed that they are unfortunately not playing Rovman Powell in today’s DC vs GT IPL 2023 match. Warner further mentioned that there was a discussion in the team management between Rilee Rossouw and Powell, but the former emerged as the frontrunner as the team needed a left-handed batsman in the middle-order. On the other hand, South Africa’s premier speedster Anrich Nortje makes his comeback into the DC playing 11 after having missed the opening match against Lucknow Super Giants due to national duty. Rovman failed to contribute much with the bat during the game against Lucknow Super Giants where he scored just 1 run off 3 balls as Delhi Capitals failed to chase down the target of 194 runs.
