The Rajasthan Royals have faced quite mixed fortunes in this edition of the Indian Premier League as they have registered two amazing victories against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals. Rajasthan Royals also suffered a poor loss at the hands of Punjab Kings.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson mentioned that their senior pacer Trent Boult is not part of the RR playing XI for this CSK vs RR IPL 2023 match on Wednesday. Samson further stated that the New Zealand left-arm pacer was not available for selection as he has a small niggle. Boult’s absence is a huge setback for the Rajasthan Royals as he has picked up as many as five wickets from three games in IPL 2023 season so far. In his place, the Rajasthan Royals have brought in right-arm speedster Kuldeep Sen in the side.

“We would have liked to bowl first too. We have started well but we need to continue the momentum. We are playing at Chepauk after a long time. We have experience and the youngsters to do that. It has always been a pleasure to come to Chepauk and play here. Boulty misses out due to a small niggle and we have a couple of changes, you will come to know that. It’s difficult to keep track with the sub rule,” said Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson during the toss.

Boult performed really well in IPL 2022 where he took 16 wickets from as many matches at a fine economy of less than 8. Therefore, he was retained by Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2023.
