CSK vs RR IPL 2023: Is Maheesh Theekshana availabile to play next CSK match?

The Chennai Super Kings are all set to host Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After starting their season campaign with a loss against the defending champions Gujarat Titans, the Chennai Super Kings have finally found their mojo with two wins on the bounce and are placed fifth on the table. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals also have 2 wins against their name from 3 matches and are nicely poised at the second spot with the best NRR among all the teams.

Chennai Super Kings have done well despite their inexperienced bowling line up. However, they have two good news coming their way straight from Sri Lankan cricket. The Sri Lankan bowling duo of Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana, missed the initial matches of IPL 2023 due to their national cricket team commitments. Both players were part of the Sri Lanka squad that played in the three-match T20 series against New Zealand. Chennai Super Kings retained both players ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction, and they have now joined the squad after completing their national commitments. The Super Kings will now play Rajasthan Royals on April 12th at Chepauk and we can expect Maheesh Theekshana to be in the playing 11 for the game against RR.

Theekshana’s return will be a massive boost, but CSK will miss the services of Ben Stokes and Deepak Chahar for a few games from now. Stokes is carrying an injury and he missed CSK’s last game against MI. In that very game, Deepak Chahar picked up a hamstring injury in the very first over of the match and went back to the dressing room. He didn’t take any further part in the game.
