Conway, known for his impactful performances, including being named player of the match in the IPL 2023 final, will undergo surgery this week following specialist advice. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) confirmed the news, expressing empathy for Conway’s situation and acknowledging his significant role in the team.

With an expected recovery period of eight weeks, Conway is unlikely to feature in the initial phase of the IPL, commencing on March 22 in Chennai. This absence poses a challenge for defending champions CSK, who will need to restructure their lineup without Conway’s dynamic presence at the top alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad.

In Conway’s stead, Rachin Ravindra will open the batting alongside newly appointed CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Despite Conway’s absence, CSK remains hopeful for a successful start to the tournament, aiming to maintain their winning momentum from previous seasons.
