Here we go! T20 cricket’s most iconic tournament is ready to kickstart and we have a clash of titans to begin the proceedings.
Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions are balanced, in form and come with a Midas touch thanks to Dhoni while Royal Challengers Bangalore begin their campaign to prove their worth. Its Dhoni vs Kohli and it can’t get better.
There is no dearth of match-winners in both teams and we choose the top five that are sure to set the stage on fire.
Top three captain choice players-
#3. Yuzvendra Chahal-
The leg-spinner has emerged as a key weapon for RCB in the recent seasons. And on the slowish Chennai pitch, he is sure to get some help.
Chahal has claimed 82 wickets in 70 IPL games so far but importantly he has bagged 70 wickets in the last four seasons which primes him among the best in the business in IPL.
#2. Virat Kohli-
The best batsman in world cricket at the moment, Kohli has some points to prove in IPL 2019. His side hasn’t won any IPL title so far and with the World Cup approaching, this may be the best time to get things right for Kohli.
As a batsman he is at the peak of his form and has cantered 730 international runs in 2019 with an astonishing average of 56.15.
#1. MS Dhoni-
The Thala had his best IPL season in 2018 when he batted unplugged and scored freely. He scored 455 runs in 2018 at a strike rate of above 150 which was the only third time in 11 seasons that he had a strike rate above 150.
The same can be expected from him in 2019 and he has already made a statement by hammering sixes in CSK’s nets.

Also, keep an eye on these players as they can emerge as the X-factors.
#2. Shane Watson-
The Aussie all-rounder has done well in the the recent T20 leagues and will be a crucial player for CSK. He scored a whopping 555 runs in 2018 and was CSK’s second highest run scorer.
He will most probably open the innings which gives him the chance to score quick runs in Powerplays and although his bowling has seen a dip he can still manage a few overs.

#1. Shimron Hetmyer-
The young Windies batsman is arguably one of the hottest talents in world cricket. He isn’t afraid of going for the big shots and has the brute power to clear the ropes.
If he gets his temperament right, he can win a few games for RCB single-handedly.
