CSK vs KKR, Match 1 of IPL 2022

There’s no doubt that they will field the best playing XI in the tournament opener. Chennai will be without their two star players, in Deepak Chahar and Moeen Ali for the IPL 2022 opener. Apart from this, South Africa all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius will also miss the first match.
While the pacer is out due to the injury he suffered in the West Indies series, English all-rounder is yet to be approved for an Indian visa and is currently stranded in the UK. On arrival, Ali will have to undergo mandatory 3-day quarantine, which makes his chances to play the first match very slender. Pretorius on the other hand finished playing the ODI series against Bangladesh on 23rd March. He will make undergo isolation on his arrival, thus making him unavailable for the match against KKR.

Young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had a breakout season last year, is expected to open the innings alongside New Zealand’s Devon Conway. Robin Uthappa is likely to bat at No.3, considering his heroics in the semi-final and final of the IPL 2021 at the same position.
Ambati Rayudu can be the ideal candidate to bat at No.4 followed by all-rounders Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and skipper MS Dhoni at 5, 6 and 7 respectively. Dwayne Bravo along with Adam Milne are likely to boast the pace bowling department. While the unavailability of Moeen Ali and Deepak Chahar is likely to see mystery spinner Maheesh Maheesh Theekshana and U-19 pacer Rajvardhan Hangargekar make their debut for CSK.
