CSK playing 11: The 15th season of India Premier League (IPL) will kick start with an intriguing battle between the finalists of last year. Chennai Super Kings under the leadership of newly appointed skipper Ravindra Jadeja will take on the team they beat to win the title for the fourth time last year, i.e. Kolkata Knight Riders.
MS Dhoni dropped a bomb last evening when he decided to step down from the leadership role and hand the baton to India’s and CSK’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Now the biggest question to answer for the new skipper is whether he would be able to live up to the legacy that Dhoni built over the years for CSK? Well, a glimpse of this answer will be found on March 26.
Team news
- With Faf du Plessis no longer a part of CSK’s setup, New Zealand’s Devon Conway is likely to team up with Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top.
- Moeen Ali has landed in Mumbai. It would be interesting to see if he will be following the mandatory quarantine protocol. He seems to be a doubtful starter for CSK’s opening match.
- If Moeen Ali plays, Devon Conway will be benched and Robin Uthappa might open with Gaikwad.
- Deepak Chahar is one such name who will be missing most of the tournament due to injury.
- Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni, and skipper Ravindra Jadeja are expected to form the middle and lower-middle order.
- The bowling setup is expected to be formed by the likes of Adam Milne, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Dwayne Bravo, and one between Chris Jordan or Maheesh Theekshana.
