The opening match of IPL 2023 will be played between the defending champions Gujarat Titans and the 4-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings. The Super Kings have made some really good acquisitions in the 2023 auctions with the best being English Red Ball captain Ben Stokes. With Stokes at the helm, CSK will be looking forward to a great run in this edition after a disappointing 2022 season.
CSK vs GT Team News: Mukesh Choudhary ruled out of IPL 2023
Chennai Super Kings breakout star the left-arm seamer from the last season Mukesh Choudhary has been ruled out for this season. Mukesh was the leading wicket-taker for CSK last season and his services will be dearly missed by the franchise.
However, one good thing for CSK is the availability of Deepak Chahar. The seamer missed last season due to injury but will be available in this season right from the opening game. Besides Chahar, CSK have Ben Stokes in their armory who is a more than handy pacer. Deepak will be sharing the new ball either with Tushar Deshpande or Simarjeet Singh. Both pacers are relatively new to the IPL but have been impressive in the domestic circuit.
Talking about their batters availability, overseas batters like Devon Conway, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, etc., all are available from the very first game. The three mentioned names will be in the starting 11 and will form the core of CSK’s batting.
