Chennai Super Kings have released an official statement that has left all the fans shocked. Chennai Super Kings is one of the most consistent teams in the IPL history and it has largely got to do with one man, MS Dhoni.
CSK Captain for IPL 2022
MS Dhoni is considered as the master tactician on the field when it comes to white ball cricket. It was evident when he took India to the trophy in the inaugural edition of T20 world cup in 2007. While all were expecting that MS Dhoni would captain the side, in the latest turn of events, it has been confirmed that Ravindra Jadeja will captain the side while MS Dhoni will continue to represent the Chennai Super Kings.
MS Dhoni as CSK Captain
MS Dhoni has won 4 IPL trophies for CSK and he was retained by CSK for 11 crores ahead of this IPL. MS Dhoni stopped playing international cricket after the 2019 world cup but he continued to play the IPL for CSK but due to lack of match practice, he has lot his ability to bat like his old self and after CSK failed to make the playoffs for the first time in their IPL history, he led CSK’s come back in the IPL 2021 with a trophy where CSK dominated the tournament.
He has played as a captain all through his career in IPL except for one season in 2017 for Rising Pune SuperGiant where he played under the leadership of Steve Smith. He was sacked as the captain of the team after a disastrous 2016 season. These were also the 2 seasons where CSK were banned from IPL.
MS Dhoni record in IPL
He has stunning record as a captain at the IPL level. It is never an easy task to expect consistency at this format which is a very volatile one but it was just a cakewalk for the man with the midas touch.
