MK Prasad ends the debate over India’s first-choice wicket-keeper for the world cup 

The entry of Rishabh Pant in international cricket and MS Dhoni’s struggles with the bat have created doubts over India’s first choice wicket-keeper for the 2019 world cup. But chief selector of Indian national cricket team MK Prasad has cleared the air on this issue and has revealed the team management’s first-choice wicket-keeper for the world cup.

There is no ambiguity about who our first wicketkeeper is: Prasad

The chief selector Prasad told that media that there is no ambiguity about who their first wicketkeeper is. He said that MS Dhoni will be India’s prefered choice for the wicket-keeping position in England in 2019.

Dhoni has experience of playing in three world-cups and has successfully led Team India to the coveted trophy in 2011 while in 2015, India reached the semi-final stage under his captaincy. Dhon is also India’s most successful captain in the limited overs format.

Prasad admits the search is on for the second wicket-keeper

At the same time, Prasad admitted that the team management will be having a back-up for Dhoni. He stated that the selectors are looking out for the second keeper ahead of the World Cup. He explained that they gave chances to Karthik and now they want to see Rishabh Pant.

The former India player noted that they will take a call after seeing Pant’s performance.

Rishabh Pant has played four ODIs and has scored only 73 runs so far. However, his performance in Tests has been impressive. He scored a hundred in the fifth Test against England and then hammered an 84-ball-92 run knock in the first Test against Windies.
