Sri Lankan skipper Dinesh Chandimal along with Head Coach, Chandika Hathurusingha and manager Asanka Gurusinha have been heavily reprimanded by the International Cricket Council for acting against the ‘Spirit of Cricket’ in the aftermath of the Trinidad ball-tampering saga last month. The trio has been slapped with a 2-Test and 4-ODI suspension, which effectively rules them out of the ongoing South Africa series.
After the hearing on July 11, the decision was announced by the ICC on Monday. In a press release, the ICC said “As eight suspension points equate to a ban from two Tests and four ODIs/T20Is or eight ODIs/T20Is, whatever comes first for the player or player support personnel, the Judicial Commissioner’s ruling means the three will also remain suspended for the Dambulla ODIs (July 29 and August 1) as well as the Kandy ODIs (August 5 and 8),”
