Natarajan Injury: In a massive recent development, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) left-arm pacer T Natarajan has been ruled out for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season due to a knee injury. After playing in the opening two games for SRH, Natarajan missed the last two matches against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians due to same injury. The David Warner-led SRH team have won a single game out of their four matches so far in the ongoing tournament.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Natarajan has been advised to take no further part in the ongoing edition of the IPL. It is also being reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) might ask the pacer to report back to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for the proper rehabilitation of his injury. Khaleel Ahmed played the last two games for SRH in the absence of Natarajan.
“We have not got the full report but we have been told that he has developed a strain in the knee. He will have to undergo rehab in the NCA,” said the source.

It is still unknown as to when did T Natarajan exactly aggravate his knee injury as the left-arm pacer also had fitness issues during the recent England white-ball series as well. He did spend almost two months at the NCA in Bengaluru after the Australia tour where his fitness was being monitored. He played his last IPL game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 14 in Chennai having picked up 2 wickets in as many games this season. During the last match against Punjab Kings, SRH skipper David Warner was asked about Natarajan’s fitness but he never pointed out that the seamer may have to miss the entire season of the IPL.

“He has obviously got a sore knee. Given the circumstance in these bubbles, if he goes and gets a scan, he obviously has to sit out for seven days. He has to get back in quarantine. We are just monitoring him at the moment. The physios are doing their best to analyse from a face point of view but he obviously has to go out and get a scan at some point,” said David Warner on Natarajan’s fitness update.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad will next face the Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 25.
