Blow to Sri Lanka: Kusal Perera out of SA series due to injury

It seems that nothing is going right for Sri Lanka in the ODI series against South Africa. The visitors have already lost the series by losing the first three games and now batsman Kusal Perera has been ruled out of the remaining series due to a hamstring injury. The team management hasn’t named any replacement for Perera yet.

The left-hand Sri Lankan batsman had suffered an injury to his hamstring while fielding in the third ODI against South Africa. The injury had stopped the batsman from batting in the game and now Sri Lanka team management has confirmed that he won’t be taking part in the remaining two games.
Sri Lanka Cricket’s official Twitter account stated thatĀ Kusal Janith Perera, who sustained an injury in his left hamstring; while fielding during the 3rd ODI will not take further part in the South African series. It also explained that no replacement will be sent for the top-order batsman.

Kusal Perera: A key batsman for Sri Lanka
In the recent times, Kusal Perera has emerged as the key player for Sri Lanka especially in red ball format. He has scored 2283 runs so far in 88 ODIs at an average of 29.26.
Perera playedĀ what is being hailed by many as the finest innings ever by a Sri Lankan batsman in the recent Test series against South Africa to deliver Sri Lanka a historic win.

Sri Lanka squad for the remaining ODIs against South Africa
Sri Lanka have lost the first three ODIs against South Africa in this five-match series. The fourth and the fifth ODI will be played on 13th March and 16th March respectively.
