HEA vs SIX Match Cancelled: In a big breaking news, today’s second game of the Big Bash League T20 2021-22 season between the Brisbane Heat and the Sydney Sixers has been postponed. The harsh decision has been taken after as many as 15 members of the Brisbane Heat contingent tested positive for Covid-19 that includes both players and support staff. It has also been announced that the opening game of today’s BBL doubleheader, Adelaide Strikers vs Hobart Hurricanes will now start at 1:45 PM IST.
HEA vs SIX Match Cancelled?
Originally, the Brisbane Heat were supposed to play the Sydney Sixers on 4 January at the Carrara Oval in Queensland, however, due to multiple Covid-19 cases in the Heat camp, Perth Scorchers took their place in that encounter. And now today, Brisbane Heat revealed that they are unable to field even 13 players for their game against Sixers and thus, the officials had no other option than to call-off the game. It is understood that a total of 12 Brisbane Heat players have tested COVID-19 positive and they are currently isolating.
“In this instance, the decision to postpone tonight’s match was the only option available given the number of cases within the Heat squad and the inability to secure the required number of players fit to take the field,” Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Big Bash League, said.
