1. Dickie Bird
One of the most popular figures in cricket in the 20th century is known as the best umpire in international circuit. He played for Leicestershire and Yorkshire in 1960s, but was forced to quit due to knee injury. His first appearance as an umpire was in 1973 between England and New Zealand. In total, he officiated in 66 Tests and 69 ODIs. Throughout his career, he was known for giving spot on decisions and his witty humour. He officiated in 1975, 1979, and 1983 Wold Cup Final. He received a guard of honour in his last test match as an umpire between India and England in 1996. He received Member of Order from the British Empire(MBE) in 1986 and Office of Order from the British Empire(OBE) in 2012.
2. Simon Taufel
One of the finest decision makers played in the domestic cricket during 1990-91, but was cut short due to the injury concerns. His umpiring career started in 1999 in the ODI match at 27 years old. In 1999, he officiated his first test in Boxing day test match between Australia and West Indies. He was chosen as the Best Umpire by ICC from 2004 to 2008. In 2007, he became the youngest umpire to officiate in 100 ODI matches. He stood alongside Aleem Dar in the 2011 World Cup Final. His last appearance as in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
3. Aleem Dar
The umpire to officiate most number of ODIs and test matches in international cricket, has been found right most of the times, at the times of DRS as well. Before foraying into umpiring, he played domestic cricket for Lahore. His first match as an umpire came between Pakistan and Sri Lanka ODI in 2000. In 2009 and 2010, he won the Best Umpire Award by ICC. His accuracy was terrific in the 2011 World Cup. Aleem has officiated in 100+ Tests, 200+ ODIs, and around 50 T20Is till date.
