Star players including Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ishan Porel, Murali Vijay and Vijay Shankar will be missing the opening match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy due to various reasons.
Easwaran, Ishan to represent Board President’s XI, Vijay Shankar injured
Easwaran and Ishan will be a part of Board President’s XI team which will lock horns against South Africa and hence won’t make it for the clash against Gujarat on September 24th. On the other hand, Vijay Shankar is yet to recover from his thumb injury and thus won’t be available for Tamil Nadu’s match against Rajasthan. Meanwhile, opening batsman Vijay Shankar will be returning from England where he is currently playing county cricket on September 29th or 30th and hence will miss the opening match.
Easwaran and Ishan to miss match against Gujrat
Easwaran was one of the most impressive performers in the domestic circuit in recent times and has been asked to lead the team of Bengal for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, he has been selected to represent the Board President’s XI team and thus he will be missing out the opening match of the Vijay Hazare trophy. His team-mate Ishan Porel too has been selected for the match against the touring South African team so he too will be unavailable for the match against Gujrat.
Vijay Shankar still battling with thumb injury
Tamil Nadu’s key player and vice-captain Vijay Shankar received injuries to his thumb on couple of occasions during the recent India A series against South Africa A. In fact these injuries prevented him from featuring in any game.
He is still recovering from the injury and thus will be missing the match against Rajasthan.
R Prasanna, Tamil Nadu’s assistant coach said that “Vijay Shankar is mostly unavailable for the first match against Rajasthan. They will take a call after the first game and he wasn’t part of the TN camp because of his India A commitments and subsequent injury.
He noted that Vijay Shankar is pushing hard to be fit for the second game. But they are playing Services on the very next day. So they will have to wait and
watch. There is no point pushing it in a long tournament.
