England versus West Indies series which marked the return of international cricket after a long gap of four months is all set for an exciting turnaround as England cricket team owned Day 2 of the second Test in Manchester after going 1-0 down in the first match held at Ageas bowl. England vice-captain Ben Stokes and opener Dom Sibley steadied the ship for the hosts by stitching together an amazing 260 run partnership. Stokes played a match-winning 176 runs innings before getting out after playing a ridiculous shot of Kemar Roach’s bowling.
Ben Stokes and Dom Sibley owns Day 2
After the first session of play on Day 1, England looked in deep trouble after Windies spinner Roston Chase dismissed English opener Rory Burns and Young batsman Zak Crawley cheaply. Alzarri Joseph joined the party by dismissing the England captain Joe Root for 23 runs.

But as always, when England looked to be in deep trouble Sir Benjamin Stokes came to the rescue. He along with opener Dom Sibley stitched a well-fought 260 run partnership. The pair took their time and just capitalized on the bad balls bowled by Windies bowlers. Sibley stood there like a rock grinding through 312 balls to reach his second Test century. Stokes on the other hand reached his 10th Test hundred a bit faster than his partner. After reaching the century mark, both of them started shifting their gears and started to attack. In doing so Sibley fell prey to Roston Chase at 120 runs, but Stokes marched his way forward scoring his next fifty at a far better strike rate.

Ben Stokes gets out to Roach after playing a Ridiculous shot
Stokes looked all set to make his 2nd Test double hundred. But he was sent back to the pavilion after playing a loose shot against the bowling of Kemar Roach. He played a really ambitious reverse sweep to Roach’s bowling, only to take a faint edge to be carried by the keeper Dowrich. This ridiculous shot curtailed his marvelous innings at 176 runs. It is his second-highest Test score and the highest score on home turf.

This was Roach’s first Test wicket over the last 86 overs he bowled in his last five Test innings. He followed it up with a wicket of Chris Woakes in the immediate next ball.
