IPL 2020: Ben Stokes arrives in UAE, to be available for next RR game?

The Rajasthan Royals supporters can now breathe in peace. Their star all-rounder Ben Stokes is back. He has left New Zealand and will reach UAE this Sunday. After opting out of the England vs Australia limited-overs series Stokes departed to New Zealand to look after his dad who is undergoing some treatment. He also opted out of the initial part of the IPL and will be joining the team this Sunday.

Ben Stokes returns to the RR camp

The start English all-rounder announced his return to the IPL through an Instagram post. He posted few pictures of him with his family on with the caption “goodbyes never get easier”. Right after that, the franchise confirmed the news to the outside world.

“Yes, Stokes is set to join the Royals. He will reach UAE on Sunday and will join the teammates after his quarantine,” a team source confirmed.

They also posted a picture of Stokes on their social media platforms with the caption “Stoked”.

When will Stokes play his first match of IPL 2020?

Even though he will reach UAE tomorrow, it is reported that he will have to undergo a six-day mandatory quarantine. Only after this stipulated time, he will be allowed to get back on the cricket field.

This means he will miss the match against Mumbai Indians and will only be available in time for the clash against Delhi Capitals. The team managed very well in his absence. They won both their initial matches with ease but struggled pathetically in the next two encounters. With Stokes coming back to the eleven it would give the much-needed stability to the team balance and would strengthen the middle order. His English counterpart Tom Curran is expected to make way for him in the playing eleven.
