BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has come up with a massive update regarding the resumption of Cricket in India. It is to be noted that ever since the COVID-19 pandemic started to spread worldwide, the BCCI took some early measures and even before the nationwide lockdown, all cricketing events in the country came to an abrupt end.
Looking at the current situation, Ganguly is not in a hurry to start cricket in India. News has been surfacing that German’s premier football league the Bundesliga is expected to resume sometime in May. However, Ganguly has stated that things are totally different in India and Germany.
“Don’t believe in sport when there is a risk to human life” Sourav Ganguly
Talking about the current situation both countries are going through, the BCCI president said to the Times of India;
“The social reality of Germany and India are different, there will be no cricket in India in the near future. There are too many ifs and buts involved. More importantly, I don’t believe in sport when there is a risk to human life.”
This statement from Sourav Ganguly has said it all. This clearly states that Cricket in India isn’t anywhere near f getting started as putting players lives on risk is definitely not the way to go.
Harbhajan Singh stands in unison of Sourav Ganguly’s decision
“When IPL teams travel, there’s a huge crowd at the airports, hotels, outside the stadium. How are you going to stop them if you are looking to maintain social distancing? There should be no top-flight cricket till there is a vaccine for Covid-19.”
