Bangladesh and England are all set to lock horns in the second game of the three-match T20I series on Sunday (12th March) at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. After a poor outing in the ODIs, the hosts made sure that they turn the things around in the T20I series.
They produced a staggering bowling effort and as all the bowlers bowled economical spells and apart from Jos Buttler, they didn’t allow other batters to score runs. Their bowling effort was complimented well by Najmul Hossain Shanto (51) and Shakib Al Hasan (34), who batted brilliantly and guided their side to 6- wicket win.
On the other hand, English batters struggled to get going. Skipper Jos Buttler was the pick of the batters for his side with staggering half-century at the top. Phil Slat supported him well as they posted fighting total on the board. With the ball too, they failed to get going as they managed to take just 4 wickets and conceded 158 runs in just 18 overs.
As Bangladesh vs England 2nd T20I contest is at the edge, here’s the pitch report and more from Dhaka.
Dhaka PITCH REPORT
The Dhaka pitch traditionally has been a good batting surface. Batters have enjoyed playing at this venue as it has been a happy hunting ground for them. The initial look of the surface suggests that apart from a good batting deck, the wicket will suit pacers as well. But with game being in Bangladesh, there’ll be a traditional touch of Asian pitches, which offers spin as well. The venue so far has hosted 65 games and the average first innings score at this venue is 140. Out of 65 games, 31 have been won by teams batting first whereas 34 have been won each by teams bowling first. Although the pattern in the T20Is suggest that teams prefer bowling, but at this venue it is suggested that teams should bat first as it’ll be best time to bat.
