Mohammed Shami BAN vs IND: In an important news update, India’s senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami is not playing the first ODI game against Bangladesh scheduled to be hosted at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Incidentally, Shami has been ruled out from the entire India vs Bangladesh three-match ODI series due to a shoulder injury. India will be hoping to make a strong comeback after having suffered a poor 0-1 ODI series in the recently concluded New Zealand tour.

Just a day before the opening game against Bangladesh, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed that pacer Mohammed Shami has suffered a shoulder injury during a training session in the lead up to the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. The BCCI further informed that Shami is currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru under the supervision of the BCCI medical team and did not travel with the rest of the Indian team to Bangladesh. Right-arm speedster Umran Malik has been announced as the replacement for the ODI games. Incidentally, Umran made his ODI debut during the first ODI against New Zealand recently.

“Fast bowler Mohd. Shami sustained a shoulder injury during a training session in the lead up to the ODI series against Bangladesh. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team at the NCA, Bengaluru and will not be able to take part in the three-match series. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umran Malik as Shami’s replacement,” said the official statement released by the BCCI.
