Australian opener David Warner is released from the national squad ahead of the third One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand. Considering the workload, Warner will miss the final and remaining One Day fixture of the tour.
The 35-year-old is released, deeming a heavy workload over the next 12 months, and the series is already conquered.
Besides, Australia are set to play the third One Day International (ODI) game tomorrow (Sunday, September 11) at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns. The Aussies have won the series after two successive victories in Cairns, the same venue earlier.
However, Warner hasn’t found the momentum to score runs in the series so far. He has scored merely 25 runs in two innings. His form with the bat is going to be crucial for Australia as the side will be heading India.

Stoinis ruled out, Finch to retire
Warner’s teammate and Aussie all-rounder Marcus Stoinis too, is ruled out of the third ODI due to a low-level side strain injury. Nathan Ellis, the right-arm pacer, has been called into the squad in place of Stoinis. Although, there’s no replacement announced for Warner.
Moreover, Aaron Finch, Australia’s current skipper, will retire from ODI cricket after this third ODI against New Zealand in Cairns. Though, he will continue to lead Australia in T20I cricket. Finch had a dreadful run with the bat and has made his intentions of focusing on the upcoming T20 World Cup at home, clearer.

Australia to tour India for three T20Is
Furthermore, Australia will depart for India, as soon as they wrap up the Kiwi tour. The Finch-led men will play three T20 Internationals against India starting from September 20 in Mohali. The remaining two games are scheduled for September 23 and September 25 in Nagpur and Hyderabad (Deccan). The tour is going to be a vital element of preparation for both teams as the T20 World Cup is on the edge.
