AUS vs SL: In a big breaking news development, hosts Australia have announced their playing 11 for the upcoming first T20I match against Sri Lanka scheduled on 11 February at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. Australia is all set to host Sri Lanka for a five-match T20I series. This will be the first-ever T20I assignment for the Aaron Finch-led team after winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE.

Australia captain Aaron Finch has confirmed that Jos Inglis will make his T20I debut in the first T20I game against Sri Lanka and will bat at the number three position. Defending T20 World Cup champions Australia have named a strong playing 11 barring the absence of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. Ben McDermott will open the batting for the hosts alongside skipper Finch while the trio of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are the fast bowlers with leg-spinner Adam Zampa being the lone spinner in the playing XI.
The likes of Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade comprise of the Aussie middle-order. Warner and Marsh have been rested while Travis Head is unavailable due to his participation in Sheffield Shield cricket.

Australia vs Sri Lanka Start Date
Australia have rewarded Ben McDermott for his fabulous performance in the last edition of the Big Bash League T20 where he finished as the leading run-getter with a wonderful tally of 577 runs from 13 matches at a strike-rate of more than 150. Unfortunately, Ashton Agar has once again missed out from the playing 11.

The Australia vs Sri Lanka five-match T20I series kickstarts with the opening game on 11 February while the second match will also be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 13 February. The Manuka Oval in Canberra will host the third T20I match on 15 February, 2022 while the last two games are scheduled to take place on 18 and 20 February respectively at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.
