Mitchell Starc AUS vs AFG: In an important news update, Australia’s premier left-arm speedster Mitchell Starc unfortunately misses out from the playing XI for this crucial encounter against Afghanistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. After having picked up two consecutive wins against Ireland and Sri Lanka, Australia will be aiming to register a big victory in this match against Afghanistan to stay alive in this ongoing T20 competition.
AUS vs AFG: Why is Mitchell Starc Not Playing Today’s Australia vs Afghanistan T20 World Cup 2022 Match?
During the toss, Australia’s stand-in captain Matthew Wade stated that their wicket-taking bowler Mitchell Starc is not playing today’s match against Afghanistan. The Aussie skipper did not gave much of details about the reason of Starc’s absence from the playing XI after he ended with expensive figures of 2 for 43 in his four overs during the previous game against Ireland. It looks like the left-arm pacer might be struggling with an injury which is why, right-arm fast bowler Kane Richardson has been included in the team. On the other hand, regular captain Aaron Finch and Tim David are also not playing which makes space for Steve Smith and Cameron Green.
“We would have probably done the same. Finch is out, so is Tim David. Starc makes way for Kane Richardson. Green and Smith are in. It’d have been nice if we hadn’t put ourselves in these positions, we’ve been here before. They (Afghanistan) are a terrific team. We got to secure a win first, but if an opportunity comes where we can push the pace a bit we’ll try to do that. Otherwise, we got to try and win,” said Australia’s stand-in captain Matthew Wade during the toss.
