Aaron Finch AUS vs AFG: In a massive breaking news development, Australia captain Aaron Finch is not playing their fifth and final league stage game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against Afghanistan scheduled to be hosted at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. After having conceded a poor opening loss against New Zealand, defending champions Australia have come back strongly to register amazing victories against Sri Lanka and Ireland.
AUS vs AFG: Why is Aaron Finch Not Playing Today’s Australia vs Afghanistan T20 World Cup 2022 Match? Who is Australia Captain?
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Australia’s stand-in captain Matthew Wade stated that regular captain Aaron Finch is not part of the playing 11 for this important fixture against Afghanistan. During the post-match presentation proceedings after the game against Ireland, Finch revealed that he felt some discomfort in his hamstring while batting. In the same game, the Aussie skipper was named the Man of the Match for his brilliant innings of 63 runs off 44 deliveries that included 5 fours and 3 sixes. Wade mentioned that they have made as many as three changes to their side with the trio of Steve Smith, Cameron Green and Kane Richardson replacing Aaron Finch, Tim David and Mitchell Starc.
“We would have probably done the same. Finch is out, so is Tim David. Starc makes way for Kane Richardson. Green and Smith are in. It’d have been nice if we hadn’t put ourselves in these positions, we’ve been here before. They (Afghanistan) are a terrific team. We got to secure a win first, but if an opportunity comes where we can push the pace a bit we’ll try to do that. Otherwise, we got to try and win,” said Australia’s stand-in captain Matthew Wade during the toss.
