Asia Cup 2022: Who won IND vs SL match? Check the winner of Man of the Match Award

India have been kicked out of the Asia Cup 2022 in the super 4 stage of the competition after they were beaten by Sri Lanka and Pakistan in 2 consecutive games. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was unable to nail his Yorkers at the slog overs, and India badly missed Jasprit Bumrah in their bowling attack.

India vs Sri Lanka: SL beat IND by 6 wickets

Sri Lanka won the all important toss in the do or die game for India and elected to bowl first. The wicket was extremely tricky to bat in the first innings. Sri Lankan bowlers used the wicket well which made the lives of Indian batsmen difficult except Rohit Sharma who was extraordinary and was playing on a different wicket as it appeared. He scored 72 off 41 balls and helped India to reach a respectable total of 173 in their 20 overs.

Indian lower middle order flopped for one more time and playing Deepak Hooda at #7 turned out to be a disaster again. India missed Dinesh Karthik who would have contributed more than Deepak Hooda. India didn’t learn from their mistakes in their loss to Pakistan and paid the price against Sri Lanka as well.

Sri Lanka started the chase brilliantly as their openers played flawless cricket. The pitch got exponentially better to bat and Indian bowlers couldn’t put brakes in the Sri Lankan chase.

Yuzvendra Chahal brought India back into the game with 3 quick wickets but Rohit Sharma’s terrible bowling changes towards the end of the innings, along with brilliant hitting by Sri Lankans knocked India out of the Asia Cup 2022.

Sri Lankan captain grabbed the man of the match award for his stellar hitting at the death overs. He remained unbeaten on 33 off 18 balls. He also took 2 wickets with the ball. Sri Lanka would be locking horns with Pakistan in the final of the Asia Cup unless some miracle happens where Afghanistan beats both India and Pakistan in their remaining 2 games which is highly unlikely.
