Since today morning, there have been a number of reports doing the rounds about India’s right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar to have picked up another injury ahead of the Asia Cup 2022. Chahar was one of the three stand-by players alongside Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel in the national squad. However, a BCCI official has clearly rubbished any such injury update and revealed that the seamer is with the Indian team in Dubai at this moment and young right-arm speedster Kuldeep Sen has only been named as a net bowler.
“It’s absolutely rubbish. He is still with the team in Dubai. He joined the practice yesterday and will continue to do so today. He is absolutely fine. Kuldeep has joined as a net bowler. He is a fine talent but not as a full-time option,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Incidentally, Deepak Chahar recently returned from a long injury layoff during the three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe where he played the first and third matches. However, after impressive outing in IPL 2022 for the Rajasthan Royals, Madhya Pradesh pacer Kuldeep Sen has been called up as a net bowler with the Indian side for Asia Cup 2022. While talking about the 15-member squad, India has three frontline pace bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya as the all-rounder.
