Akash Chopra is one commentator who is often surrounded by controversies. The player turned commentator saw another controversy knock his door when a fan called him Chamcha during the third ODI between India and Australia. The comment did not go down well with him, and he gave a befitting reply to the troll.
What Happened?
The incident occurred in the series decider between India and Australia. India invited Australia to bat first after winning the toss. After losing two early wickets, Australia was running away with the game courtesy a fantastic partnership from Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. The pair had added 127 runs amongst them for the third wicket.
However, on the third ball of 32nd over, Labuschagne played an ariel drive against Ravindra Jadeja and the Indian sipper took a sensational catch to dismiss him. The brilliant catch allured the viewers and a lot of praises started pouring. Akash Chopra also posted a tweet in praise of Kohli:
What. A. Catch. Which followed a couple of outstanding saves that kept Marnus on strike. #Kohli #IndvAus

However, the tweets did not go down well with a fan who displayed his unhappiness. He condemned Chopra of having a bias towards Virat Kohli and called him a ‘Chamcha.’ The fan blamed Chopra for not praising Manish Pandey, who took an amazing single handed catch in the 2nd ODI.
Hello Mr chamcha of virat Kohli why you not tweeted when pandeyji takes a superb catch in last match

Akash gave a befitting reply:
The tweet did not go down well with Chopra and the Indian opener did not shy away from replying the fan. Akash tweeted “Get a life, dude. I was on commentary when Pandey ji took that catch and called it. And Praised it. I don’t tweet while commentating,”
Sorry. I pledge to tweet on every great catch taken in 2020. ?

The twiteratti enjoy the verbal battle and reacted in this manner:
You should be tweeting while doing commentary. Perhaps go live on Instagram too.

Leave it @cricketaakash, its not his fault that he didn't hear you praising Pandey while commentating, we all generally mute the tv when you come to commentate. Also we used to switch off tv when you batted during your playing days.??
