The whole world witnessed the potential batter in Jofra Archer when he launched 4 straight maximums into the stands and even beyond that of the bowling of CSK’s bowler Lungi Ngidi in the 20th over of the RR’s batting innings.
CSK were in commanding position till this massacre happened as MS Dhoni pulled things back to a great extent after a blinder player by Sanju Samson at the start of the innings. The CSK bowlers looked clueless to Sanju Samson’s magnificent effortless innings where he scored 74 from just 32 balls that included 9 sixes in it.
Unbelievable hitting from Jofra Archer
Jofra Archer has always been a potential with the bat and he utilized that to the fullest when he put on a show today. He was hitting sixes for fun against one of the premium bowlers in Lungi Ngidi. The shorts were clean and crisp and Lungi Ngidi had no clue whatsoever to Jofra Archer’s onslaught.
The first and the last six were hit straight towards long-on and the 2nd and 3rd six were hammered away towards deep-mid wicket. Jofra Archer finished his innings with 4 sixes as he scored 27 runs from 8 balls.
Looking at this innings, Sachin Tendulkar was in all praise for the Sussex bowler
What a finish by @JofraArcher taking @rajasthanroyals to 216.
Very surprised that @NgidiLungi didn’t even try to bowl a single yorker in the last over. #CSKvsRR— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) September 22, 2020
Steve Smith showcases his class
It was expected that RR would struggle without their star batsman in Jos Buttler but the captain stepped up to open the innings in the absence of Steve Smith and accumulated the runs in a steady manner when Sanju Samson was going berserk at one end.
In the end, Steve Smith departed for a well made 69 from 47 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes. It will be interesting to see RR’s batting order when Jos Buttler returns as Jos Buttler would right away take the opener’s spot which might push both Sanju Samson and Steve Smith, one position down which is not their ideal position to bat In this format of the game.
