3. Jason Holder
Not flashy or dangerous as the rest of the modern day West Indian batsman and surely not fiery as the old West Indian bowlers but Holder is a valuable asset to West Indies team when it comes to test cricket. He has held that team together with his all-round capabilities and leadership skills in their toughest times.
He averages 36.56 with the bat over the last 3 years and has taken 75 wickets in the last 3 years in tests at an average of just above 20 and equally brilliant strike rate.
He is currently number one ranked all-rounder and number three ranked bowler in the world in test cricket. Despite all these he never gets the appreciation he deserves.
4. Kemar Roach
Kemar Roach’s overseas numbers (average 37.60) often works against him. However, it needs to be remembered that injuries and issues in Windies cricket have not helped.
Roach’s record of 193 wickets in 56 Tests at 27.13 is nothing to be scoffed at. More, he has taken 71 wickets at an average of 21.28 since August 2017, which is better than the likes of James Anderson and Trent Boult over the same period.
5. Yuzvendra Chahal
With 91 wickets at an economy of 5.08 and an average of 25.8 Chahal has been the main reason for India’s dominance in ODI’s over the last few years. Despite this he still doesn’t remain a permanent member of the playing 11. Indian team management rotates between him, Kuldeep and Jadeja. Only Bumrah and Kuldeep have more wickets than him during this period for India.Â
Despite not being a big turner of the ball compared to other leg spinners, he had manager to restrict the flow of runs in the middle overs.
