Suresh Raina – Ravindra Jadeja
In the Tri-series between India, West Indies, and Sri Lanka back in 2013 there was a game in which MS Dhoni was forced to sit out during the group stages, making Virat Kohli the captain. There was definitely a lot of pressure on the youthful and enthusiastic Indian team, who had lost their previous two games. Suresh Raina misread the ball when trying a skier off Jadeja’s bowling during the Windies’ run chase, and the opportunity was wasted. In the heat of the moment, an angry Jadeja rambled something that Raina didn’t appreciate.
There was an obvious and significant confrontation amongst the players. Some stories claim that Jadeja told Raina, “This is why you’re not the captain.” The veracity of this information is unknown, but the dispute was so bad that the captain had to interfere along with a few other players to keep it from spiralling out of control. After the game, both players had a chat and worked out the problem.
