Looked at as one of the biggest stars of the future, he is also being looked at as one of the captaincy contenders of the future. He has however had a tough start to his career where he has been criticized for his attitude and also for his shot selection in critical situations.

He has however proved that while these questions on his technique and attitude remain, the one thing that is beyond doubt is his ability with the bat and his cricketing brain. It is inevitable that he will sooner or later cement his spot in the team and then he will be staking his claim to captaincy.

He has won the under 19 world cup as a captain and has proved his worth as a captain there. He is also a protégé of the great Rahul Dravid and is definitely one of the smarter operators on the cricket field. He is yet to make himself a regular though and should currently be focusing on that.
