India’s major success in the test matches especially in the world test championship in the past few months can be fully credited to its amazing pace-trio of Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav. India are on top of the ladder in the ICC World Test Championship, having notched 360 points with victories in all their matches.
With India’s next Test assignment to be at New Zealand, starting February 21 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. India are most likely to have its ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah who will be back after returning from a back injury. But the visitors will be missing out on the veteran bowler Ishant Sharma’s services.
Ishant developed a grade three ankle tear and has been ruled out of the Test series. He sustained the strain while appealing on his follow-through. The Indian management will now need to find his apt replacement to counter Williamson and co. at their home turf.
