New Zealand vs India: India had a convincing victory over New Zealand in the 2nd T20I. Courtesy of an outstanding century from Suryakumar Yadav, India marched towards a mammoth total of over 190. But apart from him, the rest of the batting unit just scored just 68 runs in 69 balls, with the three among the top four failing to deliver even at a decent strike rate. This is a template that cost India the T20 World Cup. And hence the team will be keen to address those issues moving forward in this series. Let’s see the 3 possible changes that India can make for their next match against New Zealand to bring about the real flavour of T20 cricket to their batting and bowling.
1. Sanju Samson to replace Rishabh Pant
India had given more than enough chances to Rishabh Pant in T20 cricket. He has been tried at all sorts of positions and he has failed miserably in all those. His knock of 6 runs from 13 balls while opening the batting in the last match is a prime example of that. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson, one of the best T20 batters at the moment has been warming the benches for so long. With the team looking for a fresh positive start at the top of the order, India could try him out in place of an out-of-form Rishabh Pant.
2. Umran Malik to replace Bhuvneshwar
Even though Bhuvneshwar was excellent in the last match. It’s high time for team India to move away from him. With the next T20 World Cup 2 years away, India could try out some of their new pacers who offer something different. Tearaway pacer Umran Malik is someone who India could invest in for a long period of time. His brute pace could be sharpened with extra added skills if he gets enough match practice. And for that reason, India could give Umran and go in the 3rd and final T20I.
3. Harshal Patel to replace Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep has been a regular for team India in the T20 format for the last couple of months. he played the last T20I and even played the entire T20 World Cup. With the likes of Harshal Patel warming the benches, India could give rest to Arshdeep and can try out Harshal for the final match.
