The two days, Day 1 and Day 4 of the test match was completely washed out due to the persistent rain in Southampton. It was a coincidence that the low pressure was formed in France ahead of the WTC Final day. The Day 2 and Day 3 saw a battle between the two teams. The Indian team which was cruising well at 120/3, till the end of the Day 2, were dismissed on 217. Then, the New Zealand team played well to stitch a 70 runs opening partnership between Conway and Latham. They both gave their wicket, but it was completely New Zealand’s day.

Retired Cricketers on Halts due to Rain
During the pre-match program of Star Sports, VVS Laxman said, “It’s very sad for the fans. I think ICC did not get the rules right. All said and done, you want a champion.”
If the weather delays go on for long, sometimes it means only one team can win if New Zealand bat well after the rain finishes, it puts them in the best position but I’m with VVS, however long it takes, I’d like to see 450 overs and one team come out on top,” Shane Bond said.
The former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen took to Twitter to express his disappointment regarding the same.
It pains me to say it, but a ONE OFF & incredibly important cricket game should NOT be played in the UK.
