WI vs PAK: Azam Khan ruled out of next two T20Is against West Indies

Pakistan cricket team is currently on a tour of the West Indies. The two sides are playing a four-match T20 Series followed by two test matches. It promises to be an exciting series as both teams are highly rated in the game’s shortest format. The weather played spoilsport in the first T20 game on Wednesday held at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. There was some unfortunate news for the visitors as Azam Khan was injured during a training session on Friday.

Azam Khan Suffers Head Injury

While batting in the nets, Azam was hit on the head by a pace bowler. Fortunately, he was taking precautions and wearing a helmet. He did not lose consciousness after being hit. Riaz Ahmed, Pakistan’s team doctor, went to the hospital with Azam for a CT scan. According to reports, a neurosurgeon has advised an observation period of 24 hours.

Azam Khan is definitely out of contention for the second and third T20Is, which are scheduled to take place back to back on Saturday and Sunday. His condition will be reviewed on Monday. He has an outside chance of making it for the 4th and final T20I to be held on Tuesday, 3 August.

Azam’s Career So Far

Azam is the son of former Pakistani cricketer and coach Moin Khan. Just likes his father, he is a right-hand wicketkeeper-batsman. He is being looked at as the answer to Pakistan’s T20 finishing woes.

Azam made his first-class debut for Sindh in December 2020. He plays T20 cricket for the Quetta Gladiators in PSL and Galle Gladiators in the Lanka Premier League. The national team came calling in June 2021, and he made his T20 debut versus England on 16 July 2021. So far, he has made 6 runs in two T20I innings.
