Watch: Virat Kohli and Tim Paine have a go at each other on Day 4 of Perth Test

Virat Kohli and Tim Paine exchanged words in the last two sessions of Day 3 with Australia coming out to bat in their second innings to set up a target for the visitors. The two captains had a go at each other again, in the morning session of Day 4 of Perth Test.

At one instance, the stump mic caught Kohli asking Paine, “why are you getting riled up’, with Paine replying, “I’m not”. The umpire Chris Gaffaney was seen having a chat with Kohli and Paine to get back to the game. Gaffaney was heard saying, “Boys, that’s enough. Play the game. You guys are the captains.”

On Paine’s dismissal, there was a plenty of chatter from the India slip cordon. KL Rahul, in particular, had something to say to the Aussie skipper.

If he [Paine] messes it up, it’s 2-0: Kohli

India build pressure on Aussie captain when he came out to bat on Day 3. On one instance, Indians made a caught-and-bowl appeal against Paine. It was then that the stump microphones picked Indian skipper Virat Kohli having a go at his counterpart.

Kohli said, “if he messes it up, it’s 2-0.” The Indian captain was referring to India’s 1-0 lead in the series and if they can pull off a win here, it will be a 2-0 lead in the favour of the tourists. The Australian captain did not keep quiet and promptly replied Kohli with,“ You’ve got to bat first, D*** head.”

INDIA requires 287 runs to win the PERTH TEST

India pegged Australian batting back with quick wickets in the afternoon session on Day 4, with Shami picking his career-best figures 6/56.

Australia resumed at 132/4 on Monday morning and extended their lead to 286 runs, with Usman Khawaja doing the bulk of scoring for the hosts. Tim Paine made a
