Celebrating 37th ODI ton; the VK style

The world again got the delight of watching their run machine, Virat Kohli smashing a ton where records crumbled as runs followed. Kohli became the fastest to join the 10K run club in One Day Internationals in the second ODI against Windies on Wednesday in Vishakhapatnam.

He came to the crease 81 runs away from the milestone and took a single off Ashley Nurse in the 37th over to achieve the feat. Soon afterwards, he went on to score his 37th ODI ton and celebrated the milestone in a unique way.

Kohli’s ‘let the bat do the talking’ celebration

Kohli’s celebration style garners as much attention as his centuries do. This time also Kohli celebrated his century in a unique style.

Reaching the 10k runs milestone, Virat Kohli became the fastest cricketer to reach the milestone by doing so in 205 innings, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar who had reached scored 10,000 runs in ODI cricket in his 259th innings. Overall, he is only the 13th batsman to have joined the 10,0000 runs club in the limited overs format and he is the 5th Indian to do so.

Courtesy some brilliant batting by Shimron Hetmyer (94) and Shai Hope (123), Windies found themselves within touching distance of pulling themselves level in the series by winning the second ODI in Visakhapatnam but the match concluded in a tie with both teams finishing 50 overs on 321 runs.

Proud of my milestone: Kohli

Kohli scored 157 off 129 deliveries and he said that he was proud to achieve the feat.

“Personally, I fell really proud of my innings and my milestone,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Windies captain Jason Holder also praised Kohli congratulating him for his milestone.

“Both the teams played a really good game of cricket. Congrats to Virat on getting 10,000 runs. He played a great knock today.” Holder said.
