The new kid
The newest face joining team India ahead of them facing off against West Indies is Prithvi Shaw. The 18-year old would naturally feel a bit intimidated playing for the national team while surrounded by seniors and experienced players. To ease the new player in was captain Virat Kohli.

The experienced captain tried his best to speak in Marathi, which is Shaw’s mother tongue and not Virat’s. This lightened the mood ahead of the young player’s Test debut. Shaw had been preferred over player, Mayank Agarwal for team India and was set as the opener against West Indies.
Such a beautiful moment for young @PrithviShaw. Almost a child. Bats like he knows no fear. No inhibitions. This is a different generation!

Ahead of the Test match, Shaw said that he found captain Kohli really funny. This is directly opposite of how Kohli is on the field. He also added he found captain Kohli trying to speak Marathi a really funny sight which calmed him down hours before his big debut.

A good reputation
Shaw has proven to be beyond his age as he made hundreds during his Duleep as well as the Ranji Trophy debuts. Not only that but he also led the U-19 Indian team to a World Cup Triumph.

Ahead of the match, Shaw was quoted saying he was excited but a bit nervous too. He said that he was told that there were no seniors in the dressing room which made him feel more comfortable. He continued by saying the first-day practice was a blast and everyone was happy seeing him and he felt really good.
