After suffering a massive defeat at the hands of India, New Zealand have another chance to put their World Cup preparations on track in the first ODI against Bangladesh.
The hosts have selected a full-strength squad for the first two ODIs keeping in mind the World Cup while Bangladesh will be looking to test their skills in overseas conditions.
Both sides have plenty of match-winners and in the first ODI, these three players would be the ones to watch out for.
#3. Trent Boult
The silver linning in New Zealand’s forgettable performance against India was the pace and accuracy of Trent Boult. Their only win in the series arrived when Boult was on fire and now against Bangladesh, the hosts would be hoping for the same from him.
Boult’s speed and swing will be a big challenge for Bangladeshi batsmen and probably the fate of the series depends on how well they counter Boult.
#2. Kane Williamson
After a disappointing series against India, Williamson will be itching to make his mark in the Bangladesh series. The right-hand batsman is a force to reckon with when he gets going and he can be the key for New Zealand to handle the spin threat of Bangladesh.
Williamson has mastery over pace as well as spin and hence if he stays for long in the middle overs, New Zealand can dream of a massive score.
#1. Tamim Iqbal
The man who is in the headlines in the recent days, Tamim Iqbal will be the one player to watch out for in the first ODI.
Watch: Virender Sehwag takes a dig at Australia
He smashed a sensational hundred in BPL finals and now on flat wickets and smaller boundaries he will surely fancy his chances to score another big knock.
Tamim has the experience as well as the skill to negate swing bowling and this series will be good preparation for him for the World Cup.
