Bangladesh coach Steve Rhodes has stated that senior Bangladesh player Mushfiqur Rahim is highly doubtful for the second Test against New Zealand as he is yet to recover from his wrist injury. But he feels the wicket-keeper batsman will be fully fit for the third Test while Tamim Iqbal looks fine and is in good condition.
Rahim still struggling with injury
Mushfiqur Rahim is suffering from wrist injury as well as a flare-up of a rib problem which kept him out of the first Test. But he had a long training session ahead of the second Test and spent considerable time batting in the nets.
However coach Steve Rhodes made it clear that Rahim is extremely doubtful for the second Test. At the same time he noted that the good news is that the Bangladesh batsman is on course for the third Test. And he hoped there is no setback along the way.
Rhodes explained that on Wednesday they had his first real hit. They did some work with tennis, rubber and cricket ball and when Rahim got to the cricket ball, there was still a bit of soreness in the ligament area.
Tamim Iqbal in good spot: Rhodes
Top order batsman Tamim Iqbal had a light training ahead of the second Test and speaking about this, Rhodes said that Tamim had a little light workout today. Just a little bit sore. But he made it clear that the left-hand batsman is in a good spot.
He stated that Tamim batted quite a few overs in the game and scored two hundred runs in the match. So he is okay.
