A fine innings of 65 off 49 balls from young Shubman Gill enabled KKR to beat Kings XI Punjab by three wickets and keep their IPL 2019 campaign alive while Sam Curran’s blitz of 55 runs off 24 balls vent in vain as with this loss Punjab have been knocked out from the race to play-offs.
Curran powers Punjab to 183
Batting first, Punjab had a poor start as their famed opening duo of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle failed to make an impact. Sandeep Warrier dismissed both of them with smart bowling in successive overs. He surprised Gayle with a short delivery and outfoxed Rahul with a slower one.
But then Nicolas Pooran and Mayank Agarwal steadied the ship by adding 69 runs for the third wicket. But again KKR struck back first by removing Pooran and then by dismissing Agarwal.

Gurney removed Mandeep Singh (25 off 17 balls) in the 18th over as it seemed KXIP might end at a below par score but Sam Curran smashed 55 off 24 balls to propel KXIP’s score to 183 runs.
