KXIP vs CSK IPL 2019 report: Punjab finish with a win, CSK retain top two slot

In the end, it was a result that soothed both teams although they won’t be highly happy about it. KXIP won the match and finished IPL 2019 with a win but they will be disappointed with the fact that they didn’t make it to the play-offs.
On the other hand, CSK lost the match with two overs to go but despite this they will retain the top two position in IPL season 12 however they would have preferred a win to finish the league stage.
du Plessis misses on a ton, CSK slam 170
CSK had a good start to the game as Faf du Plessis scored 96 runs off 55 balls to get back in form while Suresh Raina too continued his good touch by scoring 53 off 38 balls. The duo scored 120 runs for the second wicket but both were dismissed in the span of two overs.

However CSK failed to capitalize on the foundation as Punjab struck back in the death overs. Sam Curran removed the set batsmen Raina and du Plessis while Mohammad Shami sent back Ambati Rayudu and Kedar Jadhav on successive deliveries in the last over to restrict CSK to 170 runs.
Rahul’s master-class guides Punjab to victory
Punjab had a terrific start to the chase with KL Rahul and Chris Gayle scoring 108 for the first wicket in just 10.3 overs. Rahul was the aggressor in the partnership slamming 71 runs of just 36 balls while Chris Gayle played an uncharacteristic innings of 28 runs off 28 balls.

Harbhajan Singh removed Gayle and Rahul on consecutive deliveries i n the 11th over but Nicolas Pooran scored a quick-fire 36 runs off 22 balls to keep the momentum with Punjab.
Mandeep Singh and Sam Curran steered Punjab home in the 18th over as KXIP won the game by six wickets.
