Kohli unhappy with ICC’s new rule

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli had a dream start to the West Indies Test series. From winning the toss to piling up a big score and then bowling out the opposition in two days, the Indian captain had everything going according to his plan. But all in the Test wasn’t chalk and cheese for him, especially the new rule regarding drinks break and he expressed his dissent about it after the Test.

ICC’s new rule on drinks break 

A new ICC rule has come into action since September 30 which permits water breaks only at the fall of a wicket or in-between overs, with unscheduled breaks at the umpires’ discretion.

This rule came in to play as a lot of time was wasted in unscheduled drinks break and it affected the overs rate.

Kohli wants ICC to consider external factors

The new rule may have affected the players but it actually served its purpose as India at times had a over-rate of 17 overs per over. When asked about it after the match, the Indian captain said that it was a bit to do with the umpires pushing the players as well  and with these new rules coming in of not drinking too much water.

At the same time the Indian cricketer noted that things should be considered according to the conditions the players play in.

Guys struggled because of the rules: Kohli 

The right-hand batsman also stated that the guys really struggled in this game because of those few changes. He explained that it was quite difficult for the guys not to drink water for close to 40-45 minutes while batting and on the field as well. Kohli said that he is sure they’ll look into this.

The temperature in Rajkot were around 40 degrees for all three days and this forced the batsman to carry a small bottle with them for drinking water between overs.
