India skipper Virat Kohli is all set to be a part of the two-match T20 Internationals in Ireland after clearing the Yo-Yo test but Ambati Rayudu’s return to the national side is set to be prolonged after the 32-year old failed a yo-yo test on Saturday at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Rayudu had last played for the national side in 2016 against Zimbabwe and he was given the India call-up backed on his IPL performance.
Reportedly, while skipper Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni passed the test with flying colours, Rayudu wasn’t able to clear the threshold mark of 16.1 as per reports.
“Almost all the players including captain Virat Kohli have cleared the qualifying mark for the Yo-Yo test. But, Ambati Rayudu failed to clear the fitness test. His score was below the permissible 16.1 set for the India and India A team. We will have to drop Rayudu from the squad,” a senior BCCI official said in an interview.

Ever since Virat Kohli has taken over the captaincy, there has been extra emphasis on fitness. Recently, Mohammed Shami and Sanju Samson were also dropped from their respective squads after they failed to clear the test.
India is slated to tour Ireland for Two T20Is scheduled for June 27 and June 29.
India will also play England in three T20Is, three ODIs and five Test Matches which will start from July 3.
