India have picked 2 back to back wickets to put England in the backseat after their openers negotiated the new ball in the last hour before tea.
A peach from Mohammad Siraj to dismiss Haseeb Hameed
England’s present openers are known for their long stay at the crease. Both Dom Sibley and Rory Burns love to take their time early in the innings and nullify the new ball threat to a large extent and they did that in this innings as well. Both the openers batted out 13 overs for 23 runs before tea. It was expected that they would convert the start into a big one post tea but Mohammad Siraj dismissed Dom Sibley in the very 2nd ball of the first over after tea.

It got even worse for England as the comeback man Haseeb Hameed was bowled off a relatively straighter delivery in the very next ball to leave Mohammad Siraj with 2 in 2.

It was a lovely ball that swung and seamed but Haseeb Hameed was caught in two minds as his feet got struck and played down the wrong line. Haseeb Hameed came into this game after a brilliant century against India in the practice game. He was also in very good form in the county championship where he scored runs to earn this test call up. It was a disappointing end to his first innings but he will redeem himself in the 2nd innings.
India’s game to lose
Runs on the board is always a goldust on testing conditions for the batters. Indian batters have done an excellent job to post 364 in the first innings after being asked to bat first on an overcast morning. KL Rahul top scored for India with a sublime 129. His opening partner Rohit Sharma missed out on a well deserved century by 17 runs and he was the 2nd highest scorer for India.
