IND vs ENG Live: India are locking horns withe England in the first of the five Test matches at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The Virat Kohli-led Indian team delivered a sensational show with the ball on Day 1 of the Test match. Even after winning the toss, hosts England were bowled out for a below-par total of 183 runs.
Bumrah, Shami Rattle England on Day 1
India’s senior pace bowling combo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were spot on with their lengths right from the start. After picking four crucial wickets in the first two sessions, Shami picked up his third wicket of the match in the form of Dan Lawrence while Bumrah dismissed Jos Buttler in quick time. England captain Joe Root was looking really good and comfortable on the crease while scoring 64 runs until Shardul Thakur trapped him with a lovely swinging delivery. England suddenly crumbled from 138 for 3 to 160 for 9. Sam Curran did smash a handy knock of 27 runs towards the end but eventually the hosts were bowled out for 183 runs in the first innings.

For India, Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers taking four crucial wickets. The duo of Shami and Shardul also scalped three and two wickets respectively.

In reply, the two Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul played really well to tackle the opening spells of the England pace bowlers. The hosts bowlers did get some close calls but India were unscathed at Stumps on Day 1 with the scorecard reading 21 for no loss in 13 overs. Team India couldn’t have thought of a better first day at the start of a long England tour. However, the England bowlers will be desperate to make a strong comeback on Day 2 of the first Test match against India while the visitors will be eyeing to take a big first innings lead with some quality batsmen present in the line-up.
