IND vs ENG: Action moves forward to day 3 in India vs England second Test match at Lord’s cricket ground, London. The Joe Root-led side mounted a comeback on Day 2 after being dominated on the opening day and dismissed Team India for 364 runs. However, the visitors still have the upper hand.

IND vs ENG: Day 2 Review

On the second day of the Lord’s Test, England reached 119 for three at stumps, thanks to Joe Root’s unbeaten 48. The England captain looked solid once again, and he will resume batting on day 3 along with Johnny Bairstow.

After Mohammed Siraj dismissed Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hameed in consecutive deliveries in the 15th over, Root and Burns shared a crucial 85 runs for the third wicket. Mohammed Shami dismissed the England opener, who fell one short of a half-century with a perfect in-swinger.

Earlier in the day, the first session went in favor of the host side. Centurion KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane were sent back to the pavilion in the opening two overs. 400 looked on the cards while Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja were batting. They had a 49 run stand together before the wicketkeeper fell for 37 runs.

India’s longish tail played true to its reputation. Jadeja batted ably with them but failed to add too many runs. He was dismissed for 40. He got out trying to hit a big shot off Mark Wood. James Anderson was once again the pick of the bowlers as he picked a fifer. Wood and Robinson took two wickets apiece while Moeen Ali took one.
