The highlight moment from Day 4 has to be the stunning hundred from England captain Joe Root that helped his team make an important comeback. However, India’s Jasprit Bumrah also picked up an amazing fifer to keep his team very much in the game.

England started the day by losing two quick wickets in the form of Rory Burns and Zak Crawley. However, the pair of skipper Joe Root and Dominic Sibley then resurrected the England innings and also took them into lead. They added a wonderful partnership of 89 runs before Sibley was dismissed by Bumrah. Jonny Bairstow came out and played his natural attacking to put the pressure on the visitors. But it was Joe Root who stole the show with some gorgeous strokes and great amount of application on a tough wicket.

He composed a sensational innings of 109 runs that consisted of 14 boundaries. However, on the other side, India kept picking wickets at regular intervals that always kept them in the game. Eventually, Bumrah took his sixth five-wicket haul in Test cricket that got the hosts bowled out for 303 runs in the second innings. Sam Curran and Ollie Robinson also scored some crucial runs lower down the order to set up a 209-run fourth innings target for India.

During a nervy passage of play towards the end, India’s opening duo of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul battled hard to weather the storm, however, the latter fell as Stuart Broad bowled a beautiful delivery to provide England with the first breakthrough. India ended the day at 52 for 1 with Rohit and Cheteshwar Pujara still there. With the visitors requiring 157 runs and 9 wickets in hand, the Test match is fabulously set up for a exciting fifth day.
