IND vs ENG: Rain played spoilsport on the second day of the first Test between India and England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. After India lost four quick wickets after an incredible opening stand between Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, the match is in the balance.

Nottingham Weather Update

English summers are anything but predictable. Showers were predicted for day 1; however, we got a full day’s play. Day 2 had a similar prediction and bad light stopped play at 1430 local time. Rain followed soon, and the day was called off.

Unfortunately for cricket fans, Day 3 has another grim weather prediction. Morning showers are expected around 8 am. Between 11 am and 2 pm local time, chances of rain are 75%. Temperatures are going to be in the range of 17-19 degrees Celsius.

It will be windy, and humidity will be very high at over 75% during the day. If we are lucky, we might get some game time in the post-tea session.

IND vs ENG: Anderson Shines on Day 2

India resumed batting on day 2, having not lost a wicket for 21 runs. Earlier, England had suffered a batting collapse and made a below-par total of 183. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma played watchfully and worked hard for their runs. They had a solid opening stand of 97 runs before Sharma once again got out in the thirties. He hit his pull shot straight into the arms of Sam Curran off the bowling of Ollie Robinson.

James Anderson

James Anderson returned for a fiery third spell after lunch. He got Cheteshwar Pujara and skipper Virat Kohli off successive deliveries. The Indian captain had famously not given a wicket to Anderson in the 2018 series after his well-documented struggles in 2014.

The 39-year-old almost got KL Rahul as well, but his catch was dropped in the slips. Rahane then lost his wicket to a run-out after a terrible mix-up in the middle. At the end of the day’s play, Rahul was still going strong at 57* while Pant was batting at 7*.
